MLB: Washington 4, Pittsburgh 2
Washington, (UPI) -- Adam Dunn, Josh Willingham and Mike Morse all homered Thursday in helping the Washington Nationals down Pittsburgh 4-2 and sweep their three-game series.
It was the first three-game sweep for the Nationals this season.
Dunn hit his 13th homer of the year and Willingham had his 12th, both of them coming in the fourth. Mike Morse produced Washington's third solo homer of the game in the eighth.
That was enough for Livan Hernandez (5-3), who collected his first win since May 4. He gave up two runs on five hits over six innings. Hernandez has allowed up two runs or less in 10 of his 12 starts.
Washington had won just once in five outings prior to the Pittsburgh series, which began with the successful debut of pitcher Stephen Strasburg.
Pittsburgh has lost five in a row. Zach Duke (3-7) suffered the setback, surrendering three runs on eight hits in five innings.
