SEATTLE, May 23 (UPI) -- Chris Wondolowski found the net early, scoring in the 11th minute to post the San Jose Earthquakes to a 1-0 decision over the Seattle Sounders Saturday.
Wondolowski got his fifth goal of the season when he collected the ball in the middle of the area off assists from Bobby Burling and Brandon McDonald and beat Kasey Keller from in close.
The goal lifted San Jose (5-2-1) to its fifth win in seven matches and its second victory in four road fixtures this season.
Earthquakes goalkeeper Joe Cannon turned aside three shots in registering his fourth straight shutout.
Seattle (3-4-3) dropped its third home game and has posted just one win in its last six overall.
