NFL: New York Giants 31, New York Jets 16

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Victor Cruz caught three second-half touchdown passes Monday to lead the New York Giants to a 31-16 exhibition win over the New York Jets.

Cruz's catches highlighted the first NFL game played at the $1.7 billion New Meadowlands Stadium, the new home of both the Giants and the Jets.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning left in the first half after receiving a bloody gash on his forehead, suffered when his helmet popped off and his head appeared to get caught on the facemask of Jets safety Jim Leonhard.

Before leaving the game, Manning completed 4-of-8 passes for 77 yards. Jim Sorgi came on to go 8-of-15 for 146 yards and two TDs and Rhett Bomar finished up for the Giants by going 6-of-7 for 67 yards and a score.

Cruz, a rookie from the University of Massachusetts, ended up with six catches for 145 yards.

Jets signal-caller Mark Sanchez connected on 13-of-17 attempts for 119 yards with a touchdown.
