Obama Camp Picks FCC Transition Team

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The transition team for President-Elect Barack Obama named two academics to lead the review team that will advise the incoming president about changes at the Federal Communications Commission.

The first pick, Susan Crawford, is a professor of law at the University of Michigan, teaching communications law and internet law. The second individual, Ken Werbach, is an assistant professor of legal studies and business ethics at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

The picks are a surprise, given that former FCC Commissioner Henry Rivera was expected to be named to the transition team overseeing FCC matters.

Also, former FCC Commissioner Susan Ness was named a co-leader for the Federal Trade Commission transition team. Her team reports to Reed Hundt, former FCC chairman, who is heading the Agency Review Working Group on economics and International trade.
