Police: Man repeatedly crashed into pump
SAN ANTONIO, Police in San Antonio said they arrested a man who repeatedly crashed his pickup truck into a gas pump and nearly drove off a bridge.
Investigators said the man, whose name was not released because charges have not yet been filed, caused about $20,000 worth of damage at the Citgo station Thursday when he repeatedly slammed his blue Dodge pickup into a pump shortly after 7:30 p.m., the San Antonio Express-News reported Friday.
Police said multiple charges are pending against the man, who they said may have been under the influence of alcohol.
"It was wild," said James Green, an employee at a nearby car dealership who witnessed the incident. "The guy was going crazy, literally ramming the pump, trying to hit it, really getting into it, and then he backs up and tries to do it again, twice."
Green said the man "stopped the truck right in the middle of the intersection, got out, and tried to straighten out his left front tire, which was mangled and turned inward."
The witness said the man got back into his truck "and really gunned it, but since his tire was gone, he could not control it very well and he came really close" to driving over the side of the Devil Den bridge over Leon Creek.
