Police no fans of nuisance rapper
MANCHESTER, England, (UPI) -- A would-be rap musician has made hundreds of nuisance calls to emergency lines in Manchester, England, evading police attempts to block him.

Investigators say he has been calling for about 18 months and has made about 700 calls to 999 in the past three months, The Times of London reports. Operators have to keep listening just in case there's a real emergency, sometimes for several minutes.

What they get is what appears to be self-composed rap songs mixed in with rants in a Jamaican accent about Queen Elizabeth II. Sixty cellphone SIM cards he has used have been blocked, but he just moves on to new ones.

Investigators have released recordings of excerpts from the calls, hoping that someone will identify the mystery caller.

"I would hope he does not do this out of malice because he is putting lives at risk," said Superintendent Karan Lee, who is head of the call-handling operation. "At busy times, the line can be blocked by his calls which mean people with a genuine emergency cannot get through."
