PROGRAMMING: DIRECTV Keeps STAR Content, Adds HD Locals
DIRECTV and STAR, News Corp.'s Asian media and entertainment company, signed a deal that allows the DBS service to continue carriage of Star India Plus, Star I One, Star India News and Vijay. DIRECTV became STAR's first distribution partner in the U.S. when the four channels made their national debuts in November 2004 --- DIRECTV added local HD signals for customers in three markets: Myrtle Beach/Florence, S.C.; Champaign-Springfield-Decatur, Ill.; and Burlington Vt.-Plattsburgh N.Y.
