Rose hangs on for 1-stroke Aronimink win
NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa., (UPI) -- Justin Rose parred his final seven holes Sunday, finishing with an even-par 70 that was just good enough to win the AT&T National at Aronimink Golf Club.
The Briton, who won the Memorial Tournament in early June, wound up at 10-under 270, one stroke ahead of Ryan Moore.
Rose held a four-stroke lead after three rounds Saturday, the second straight week in which he had control of an event after 54 holes. But unlike last week at the Traveler's Championship when he coughed up the lead and tumbled into ninth place, Rose this time held on for the win.
Moore carded a 5-under 65 to challenge Rose but ultimately fell into sole possession of second at minus-nine.
Jeff Overton (67) took third at 8-under-par 272 and Charlie Wi (69) ended alone in fourth one stroke further back.
J.B. Holmes shot a 71, good for sole possession of fifth place at minus-6.
World No. 1 Tiger Woods failed to break par, ending at 4-over 284.
