A former top official with two Moose Jaw-area municipalities has been charged with fraud in connection with the alleged loss of $113,000.

Elaine Salikin is scheduled to appear in Moose Jaw provincial court on June 1 charged with several offences, police said Tuesday.

She's the former administrator of both the rural municipality of Wheatlands and the village of Mortlach.

Police began their investigation in March, 2010, after receiving complaints from both municipalities.

Salikin has been charged with two counts of fraud and one count of falsifying books and documents.

It's alleged the offences took place between 2007 and 2009, the RCMP said.
