Sask RCMP say they're satisfied with life sentence in Mountie killings
SASKATOON - The head of the RCMP in Saskatchewan says he's "satisfied" with the verdict handed to a man convicted in the fatal shootings of two Mounties and the attempted murder of another.
Commanding officer Dale McGowan wouldn't comment further on the guilty verdict for Curt Dagenais, citing possible appeals.
But McGowan did say that he's proud of the way the difficult investigation was handled.
Dagenais was sentenced Friday to life sentence in prison with no chance at parole for 25 years in the deaths of constables Marc Bourdages and Robin Cameron and the shooting of Const. Michelle Knopp.
McGowan also says the RCMP will seriously consider any recommendations stemming from the court process.
The comment comes after Justice Gerald Allbright said he hopes all RCMP vehicles would soon be equipped with GPS, noting that emergency responders had trouble finding the scene of the shooting in Spiritwood in 2006
