LA JUNTA, Colo. -- A text message blunder sent three Southern Colorado high schools into lockdown Friday morning.
A high school basketball player sent a text message to a friend saying, "Will be shoot around in the gym." It was meant to be sent to a player, but the number was wrong, Las Animas Superintendent Jerry Nickell said. The message ended up going to the principal of New Horizons.
That message sent Las Animas High School, Rocky Ford High School and La Junta High School into lockdown mode shortly after 9 a.m. Friday.
The lockdown was lifted just after 10:30 a.m.
Nickell said the student doesn't face any charges, calling the incident "a terrible blunder."
