A man who was shot in northwest Toronto on Sunday has succumbed to his injuries, police say.
The man was shot in the head at around 5:30 a.m. Sunday in the Weston Road and Lawrence Road area.
He was taken to hospital, where he died on Wednesday, Toronto police said in a release.
Police identified him on Friday as Okene Thompson, 20, of Toronto. An autopsy was scheduled for Friday.
It is Toronto's 11th homicide of the year.
Police also said Friday they have charged Kirk Vernal, 30, of Toronto, with first degree murder.
Vernal is due to appear in court on Tuesday.
