Truck crash kills 23 pilgrims in India
DEHRADUN, India, Officials in India say 23 people were killed when a truck crashed into a gorge on the Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway.
The victims were identified as religious pilgrims from Haryana who were making their way to Gangotri along roads that had been battered by torrential rains during the last two days.
Authorities in Uttarakhand ordered an investigation into the crash and were recovering the last of the bodies from the gorge on Sunday.
Press Trust India said Uttarakhand has been rocked by flooding and washed-out roads.
