What is the best and safest way to transfer data from one computer to an other?

I just sold my old laptop and I want to transfer my old files to my new one, what is the best and safest way to do so? It is about 40gb of files.

If you have a router the easiest and safest way would be to connect them both and transfer thought you network. All you need it a router and 2 network cables.

Do you have a USB flash drive handy? Even if its only 8gb, it might do the trick, it you do it in 5-6 times.

LOL it right. Use a USB flash drive, you can pick a 16gb up for about $20 or a 32gb up for about $40. You could also try burning the files to a dvdr if you laptop has a burner.

Another option is a external USB portable hard drive. You can get a 1tb for about $100. Used it to keep all your important files on and you will never have to worry about transferring them again!

2. USB Hard drive = $100
3. Network transfer = $80

USB flash drive it the cheapest choice, USB hard drive is safest IMO.
