What's the difference between ATI RADEON and nVidia?

What's the performance differences or adventages between ATI RADEON and nVidia graphics cards? I want to know wich one is best or what are the effects between each.

Its a simple matter of which company you like, really. Certain motherboards work with certain video card brands, (ATX or nVidia) I personally have a nVidia GTX 260, and I have NO COMPLANTS.

Nvidia and ATI are two different companies that make a wide range of graphics cards. The performance differences will depend on which card you get. The ATI Radeon 5870 is currently the most powerful single graphics card on the market, but that doesn't mean all ATI cards are better.

they're just competitor companies; they both using nearly the same technologies with different names.their product range is not the same. ati produce more price/performance cards but nVidia has deals with more video game companies so more games supports new nVidia technologies.
