A woman in her 60s was killed after the car she was driving in with two children collided with a pickup truck on Bank Street Friday.

The collision happened around 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Bank Street and Conroy Road, south of Hunt Club Road.

When firefighting crews arrived on scene the woman was unconscious. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to pry open the woman's door, which they said had substantial damage from the crash.

The woman regained consciousness when paramedics arrived, and she was taken to hospital in serious condition with head and internal injuries.

She died in hospital, police said.

Both children suffered only minor bruises. They were taken to hospital by a relative as a precaution, paramedics said.

The man driving the pickup involved in the collision was not hurt.

Ottawa police are investigating.
