Yankees drop Teixeira from playoff roster

NEW YORK, -- The New York Yankees removed first baseman Mark Teixeira from their post-season roster Wednesday after he injured a hamstring while running to first.
The Yankees' slugger was hurt in Tuesday's loss to Texas in Game 4 of the American League Championship Series. He was replaced on the roster by infielder Eduardo Nunez.
Teixeira started limping while running out a grounder in the fifth inning and was later diagnosed with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. He finished the ALCS 0-for-14. Lance Berkman started at first base for the injured Teixeira in Wednesday's Game 5 and was involved in a fourth-inning mishap when he slipped and fell on the warning track while chasing a foul ball.
Although shaken up, Berkman remained in the game.
