I have a sony vaio laptop computer with 32 bit windows vista, and a nvidia geforce 84000m gt GPU. I am trying to install the latest driver but it is not recognizing that it is there. I uninstalled my old drivers but now in devise manager it says I only have standard vga graphics. What do I do?

What you probably need is another type of software or you may need to search threw your computer... its like with a USB driver. my cousin couldnt get it to read on his computer. so he messed with it and eventually got it to work.

First, check with sony and find out if your model is one of the units with the g84 series vid cards/motherboards that will be getting free replacements.Second. Any tech will tell you latest is NOT always the greatest especially with HIGHLY proprietary implementation such as sony and especially with notebook computers. In MOST cases the 8400 from 3-4 years ago will give you more reliable performace with it's OEM driver!!!!!On a desktop with a non-OEM card, upgrading to the lastest driver might be a good idea. with a sony notebook, it's a VERY mixed bag.Remember, the 8400 series has SERIOUS heat issues. Do not try to use this beyond its capabilities and keep your notebook well cool and ventilatedAfter you uninstall of course you have only vga. I'd run a RELIABLE registry cleaner, then try another install. I HIGHLY recommend you use the SONY driver, NOT the Nvidia driver. Remember, it will take a reboot before that driver takes effect.Upgrading your driver will NOT dramaticly improve your frame rate, shading, polygons, altialiasing, etc, etc, etc. but it will probably make your system LESS stable.
