Galaxy 26 Experiences Anomaly

Intelsat disclosed that one of its satellites encountered an anomaly this past weekend.

On Sunday (June 29), Galaxy 26 experienced a sudden and unexpected "electrical distribution anomaly" causing the loss of about half of the satellite payload. The issue resulted in the interruption of some customer services utilizing the satellite, the company said.

On Tuesday, Intelsat said the balance of the payload was operating normally. Also, virtually all customers impacted by the anomaly have been restored on capacity within the Intelsat system, the satellite services provider said.

Intelsat said it is working with Space Systems/Loral, the manufacturer of the Galaxy 26 satellite, to identify the cause of the problem. Galaxy 26 is located at 93 degrees West.
