A driver is facing impaired driving charges after collision early Saturday that sent two Toronto police officers to hospital and closed part of the Gardiner Expressway for eight hours.
The officers were investigating a collision on the highway around 3:20 a.m. when a car struck their cruisers, police said.
The 46-year-old driver was injured and remains in hospital. The officers, who were also hurt, were treated in hospital and have been released.
The Gardiner reopened around noon.
