Bomb Squads Probing Suspicious Cargo Flights

(Oct. 29) -- Federal agents are investigating items aboard cargo planes that landed at the Newark, N.J., and Philadelphia airports after officials in England discovered what they suspected was an explosive device on a US-bound cargo plane from Yemen, The Associated Press reported.

At East Midlands Airport, British officials found white powder and a toner cartridge with wires attached to it, but tests for explosives proved negative, the AP reported, citing an unidentified law enforcement official.

That plane was reportedly en route to Chicago from Yemen. The plane being searched in Newark also reportedly took off from Yemen. The plane in Philadelphia was a UPS jet that originated in Paris, MSNBC.com reported.

"Out of an abundance of caution, the planes were moved to a remote location where they are being met by law enforcement officials and swept," the Transportation Security Administration said in a statement, according to Reuters.

CNN reports that a UPS delivery truck is being investigated near the Queensboro Bridge in New York.
