Washington, D.C. (September 17, 2008) -- DIRECTV has added local High-Definition channels in the South Bend/Elkhart, Indiana market, bringing its local high-def coverage to 91 markets.

The satcaster says the 91 cities with local high-def coverage represents more than 81 percent of U.S. TV households. DIRECTV adds that it will offer local HD channels in 121 cities by year's end.

DIRECTV said it added WNDU/NBC and WSJV/FOX in the South Bend/Elkhart market.

In its release, the satcaster did not mention the local stations for other networks in the South Bend market. Sometimes, cable and satellite TV providers can not offer all local channels in their lineups due to compensation disputes with the local stations
