Dushevina an early Slovenia Open winner

PORTOROZ, Slovenia, No. 6-seeded Vera Dushevina needed to rally from a set down Monday to advance out of the first round of the Slovenia Open tennis tournament.

Dushevina came from behind in topping Anna Lapushchenkova 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Dushevina dropped her serve five times but notched three breaks in each of the second and third sets to get to the second round of the hard-court tournament.

Anna Chakvetadze finished off the day's schedule with the most lopsided score, defeating Ekaterina Makarova 6-4, 6-1 in 72 minutes. She took 61 percent of the points in the match, including a 29-14 advantage in points when serving.

Rossana de los Rios won 6-3, 6-4 over Andreja Klepac despite four service breaks.

Virginie Razzano won as many points on her opponent's serve as the server did in a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Zuzana Kucova.

Wild-card entrant Tamira Paszek took out Jelena Kostanic Tosic 7-5, 6-2. She won 57 percent of the points in the match and had a 36-27 edge in points when receiving.
