LOS ANGELES -- Authorities say a 19-year-old mother and and her 10-day-old baby are dead after a truck driven by the baby's father crashed into a home in Boyle Heights.
The crash was reported just before midnight in the 400 block of N. Mott Street.
Investigators say about 14 people were inside the home at the time of the incident, possibly for a Halloween get-together.
A white Cadillac Escalade pickup slammed into the house, ending up in the mother's bedroom.
"When we got here the truck was practically halfway inside the home," LAPD Officer Mike Lopez told KTLA.
The mother was found dead inside the bedroom
The baby girl died at a hospital.
A relative at the scene identified the mother as Trudy Bonilla and the baby as Naomi Bonilla.
Trudy Bonilla's other child, a 3-year-old who is unrelated to the driver, was in the room during the crash but was uninjured, the uncle said.
Traffic investigators say the crash does not appear to be an accident.
Family members told investigators that the driver had threatened them earlier in the day.
He and the baby's mother had dated for about a year and a half, they said.
The driver, said to be in his 20s, was in custody at a local hospital.
