How do I choose a good gaming mouse?

I have StarCraft II on my 2GB RAM MacBook, and I'm sick of using the mousepad. I want to get a wireless gaming mouse that can keep up with the game, work on multiple surfaces, and take a little grease without completely jamming up (That last part is especially important).

Excellent question! A few years ago, it would have been silly to talk about "wireless gaming mice," but now it's an excellent question. I think you have three real choices, depending on what you're looking for. All three of these function in EITHER wired or wireless mode:The Microsoft SideWinder X8 is an excellent mouse, but it's quite large and designed for someone with a "palm" grip on the mouse.The Razer Mamba is a little smaller, but is designed for someone with more of a "claw" grip on the mouse. I like the Mamba a lot, and it glides very smoothly.If you'd like something a little smaller, you can actually connect the Razer Orochi via bluetooth. The Orochi is small and compact, and is moved around with the fingertips. For mobile gaming, it doesn't quite meet the features of the other two mice, but it's way more mobile, less expensive and very functional. There's also no need to plug a USB connector in (the device is quite large on the other two).Again all three are either wireless or wired. See the ref for more. Hope that helps
