How do I make my Sony Vegas Videos fit the screen?

I have Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 and everytime I render my video it has black bars on the side and it is really annoying me because I can't even crop a a picture/video without having black bars on the side later. So if anyone knows how to fix this problem please help, and step by step answers would be very helpful. Thanks.

First of all you have to make sure that your rendering settings match your video.And another thing you can do is choose the box that says: "Do not Letterbox" in it somewhere.I hope that helps

When you render, make sure the output size matches that of the input video, or has the same aspect ratio, IE 16:9, 4:3, etc. Also make sure that do not letterbox is selected.
