You will find that the difference is like ford and GMAside from my little joke, you will find that those who buy either product stand by their brand and denounce the other just like the autos. The Intel processor family runs like a well tuned machine. every year they try to come out with either a "Tick" enovation (die shrinkng usually) or a "Tock" inovaiton (Think the switch From Pentium 4 to Core 2 Duo to Core i7)AMD is usually ahead of the innovaiton curb, Intel is just catching up to design engineering that amd pioneered years ag
f course like any good rivalry intel and AMD switch the top spot every five years or so. Durring the end of the pentium years AMD processors were top dog and indeed AMD still held that postion through the beggining of the core 2 duo line.Once intel began processing high end core 2 Duo cpus with better clock rates and smaller die sizes AMD lost it's tops sead and has fallen significantly off the mark.Intels new core i7 cpus perform about 40% better than the older 45nm Core 2 duos and Core 2 Quads and completely blow the flag ship AMD models out of the water.AMD's new Phenom II Quad core proccessors are finally catching up to intel older generation quadcores the 65nm family. In less than 18 months AMD fell form comperable to 2 generations behind. Now, like any good technology new stuff certainly isn't cheap, or probably worht it for that matter and it comes as no suprise that AMD has decided to stake their name in the consumer affordable market. A spokesman recently hinted that their buisness plan for the rest of the forseable generation will be to market their processors and graphics card as an entire computer experience.Their claim is that you can buy the entire computer with their very good flagship models, High end GPU, Maxed Ram, Upper end Motherboard, hard drive monitor and eerythign else that makes a great ocmputer great for the price of ONE Intel CPU. And for the most part they have held fast to this fact. Intel has been known to seel it's best cpu's for $1500+So the differnece between the two? considering the different models you compare, Intell is better at this time, but AMD will give you more bang for oyur buck.
