Is AMD Phenom ii x6 1055t good for video encoding? I'm currently encoding videos into 720p and 1080p but I'm not sure if I should get x4 or spend more on x6.

Hell man, I'm using a AMD Athlon XP, so compared to me you are rocking it with your machine. I'd say if you can spare the change, then go for more cores as it can really speed up the process, otherwise, be happy with what you've got and work out your encoding process so that it can be automated when you aren't using the computer.

i have it and it'll be quick 2 more cores is what matter when it comes to video encoding more than the speed of the cores.thats 2 more threads that can be executed at one time you will see a noticable speed increase with encoding videosalso i5 and i7 cores can gave up to 8 threads at once so could look at them

You could use it...IF your mother board/chip set will handle it! you could do it with a 4 core too!
