Lawyers bill accused doctor for $3000K
LAS VEGAS, (UPI) -- A Nevada doctor on trial on charges involving a hepatitis outbreak at his clinic has spent more than $300,000 on lawyers, court papers say.

Dr. Dipak Desai has two legal teams, one representing him in the criminal case and the other in his filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

reorganization, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. Nossaman LLP has the asked judge supervising the bankruptcy to pay it $207,000, while Wright Stanish and Winckler wants more than $125,000 for its criminal defense work.

Federal prosecutors say Desai, who at one time claimed to be worth more than $200 million, may be hiding assets.

Desai and two former nurse anaesthetists at his clinic, Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada, are charged with spreading hepatitis C by reusing syringes. Investigators say at least seven patients were infected.

Former patients have sued Desai for millions of dollars.
