The USB controller driver(s) will be the same no matter the operating system. Download the driver(s) by model number from Compaq support or from VIA Technologies, Inc.

Once you get your drivers installed- would you please report back as to if the system crashes often?I have a Presario 4010 OM 2.5g and 1 gig ram. Xp runs okay, but I can not get Ubuntu or Mint to run without it crashing often. I assume there must be some part of the hardware that is not compatible.I have 5 computers- 2 old Dells, an Asus, a Sanyo, and the Compac. All run Linux well except the Compact??
