m hving itunes+ipod problem..help plz.!!?

i have a ipod touch updated wid 3.1.2. and an updated itunes. Recently wenever i connect ipod to my windows XP pc I hv following problems:1) my ipod doesnt display sync in progress2) if i manage to get dat right, the itunes shows msg abt some error and closes automaticaly.3) itunes does not show ipod in its recognised devise but my pc shows it as connected.yes i tries to do the 'diagnose the problem' it shows everything green but it comes out red on the ipod sync part. Plz help!!
