A 23-year-old man was killed Thursday morning when he was crushed by a 6,000 pound slab of granite in a Romeoville stone warehouse.
It happened around 9:15a.m. at the Primus Natural Stone Facility on Naperville Dr.
Officials at Primus Natural Stone told The Chicago Breaking News Center Emilio Gallardo was helping a forklift operator unload a bundle slabs weighing 700 to 1,000 pounds each from inside a shipping container when the load somehow landed on him,
Gallardo was killed instantly, Romeoville Fire Department spokesman Brandon Street to the Chicago Breaking News Center.
It took the fire department more than 3 hours to get him out from under the stone slab.
