PHILADELPHIA, (UPI) -- Daisuke Matsuzaka took a no-hit bid into the eighth inning Saturday, leading the Boston Red Sox to a 5-0 win over Philadelphia.
Matsuzaka (3-1) was superb, taking a no-hitter into the eighth inning before Juan Castro broke up the no-no with a two-out single. Matsuzaka walked four and struck out five over eight frames in his 112-pitch gem.
Adrian Beltre stroked a two-run double to cap a four-run fifth inning for the Red Sox, who won for the fourth time in five games.
J.D. Drew collected a pair of hits and drove in a run in the Boston victory.
Kyle Kendrick (2-2) was rocked for five runs in 4 2/3 innings, allowing eight hits as the Phillies lost for the third time in five games.
