PITTSBURGH, (UPI) -- Juan Pierre scored twice and had an RBI triple to help Chicago build a four-run lead Thursday and the White Sox fought off Pittsburgh 5-4.
The Pirates lost their 11th straight game.
Mark Buehrle (5-6) lasted 7 1/3 innings while giving up two runs on six hits. He holds the all-time record for most victories in inter-league games with 22.
Pierre tripled in a run in the seventh and then scored the final Chicago tally on a single by Omar Vizquel. That gave the White Sox a 5-1 advantage and they survived a three-run Pittsburgh eighth.
Bobby Jenks worked a 1-2-3 ninth to pick up his 13th save and preserve Chicago's seventh win in eight outings.
Ross Ohlendorf (0-5) suffered through his 14th consecutive winless start dating back to Aug. 18, 2009. He yielded five runs on nine hits in 6 1/3 innings.
