MLB: Chicago White Sox 9, Seattle 5

CHICAGO, Ramon Castro hit two of Chicago's four homers Thursday to help power the White Sox past Seattle 9-5.

Juan Pierre kicked off a four-run third inning with a two-run double and Chicago then relied on the long ball to win its 11th straight home game. It is the longest home winning streak for the White Sox in 21 years.

Chicago completed a four-game sweep of the Mariners and increased its lead over idle second-place Minnesota in the American League Central to 1 1/2 games. The Twins will resume play at home against Seattle Friday, having won five straight.

Castro hit a solo shot in the fourth to give Chicago a 5-2 lead and hit another one in the sixth as part of a two-run inning. They were his fourth and fifth homers of the year.

Paul Konerko and Carlos Quentin both hit solo home runs in the seventh to finish the scoring.

Freddy Garcia (10-4) benefited from the power attack to get the win, giving up three runs on seven hits in six innings.

Seattle starter David Pauley (0-3) lasted only 2 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits.

Pauley has lost all six of his career decisions scattered over three years.
