LOS ANGELES, -- Hiroki Kuroda took a no-hitter into the eighth inning Monday and the Los Angeles Dodgers finished with a one-hit, 3-0 shutout of Philadelphia.
Kuroda (10-11) had blanked the Phillies on no hits through 7 1/3 innings when Shane Victorino lined a solid single to right, breaking up the bid for the 2010 season's sixth no-hitter.
Kuroda finished by allowing only the one hit, walking two and fanning seven in his 102-pitch gem, handing the Dodgers a victory in the first of three games against the Phils.
Hong-Chih Kuo completed the shutout with 1 1/3 scoreless innings, notching his seventh save of the year.
Rod Barajas homered and drove in two of the Dodgers' runs.
Phils starter Roy Halladay (16-10) took the hard-luck loss, surrendering three runs on 10 hits in seven innings.
The setback was a costly one for second-place Philadelphia, which dropped three games behind Atlanta in the National League East. The Phillies, however, maintained a 1 1/2-game advantage over San Francisco for the NL wild-card spot.
