MLB: San Francisco 5, Oakland 4
SAN FRANCISCO, (UPI) -- Barry Zito notched seven strong innings and Brian Wilson got San Francisco out of a ninth-inning jam Saturday in the Giants' 5-4 win over Oakland.
Zito (7-2) limited the A's to two runs on six hits and two walks over seven innings while fanning five to help the Giants take their second straight contest in the three-game inter-league Bay Bridge Series.
Trailing by a run, the A's threatened in the ninth when Mark Ellis got a one-out single and, after Kevin Kouzmanoff struck out, went to third on Jack Cust's single. But Wilson picked up his 17th save by inducing pinch hitter Landon Powell to ground into a force out and end the game.
Pablo Sandoval homered and Juan Uribe went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI to lead the Giants' offense.
Ben Sheets (2-6) absorbed the loss for Oakland, allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits over six innings of work.
Matt Carson and Adam Rosales hit homers in the A's loss.
