MLB: Toronto 3, Los Angeles Angels 0
ANAHEIM, Calif., Marc Rzepczynski, recalled from the minors to make the start, allowed two hits in seven innings Friday to bring Toronto a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
Rzepczynski (1-1) was sent down to Class AAA Las Vegas earlier this season and he compiled only a 6.04 ERA in 12 starts.
Nevertheless, he was summoned back to the majors to take a spot in the Toronto rotation and he dominated the Angels. He did not walk a batter and struck out six, but hit two batters.
Scott Downs and Kevin Gregg finished off the shutout, with Gregg collecting his 26th save.
Edwin Encarnacion put the Blue Jays in front with an RBI single in the second. Aaron Hill had a sacrifice fly in the fourth and Fred Lewis doubled home the final run in the seventh.
Scott Kazmir (8-10) was saddled with the loss, giving up two runs on four hits in six innings.
