TORONTO, (UPI) -- Brandon Morrow allowed five hits over eight innings Thursday and the Toronto Blue Jays roughed up Adam Wainwright in downing St. Louis 5-0.
Morrow (5-5) struck out eight, walked just one and won his first game this month.
Wainwright (10-5) endured his shortest start of the season, giving up five runs on six hits in four innings. The Cardinals lost for the second time in six games.
Toronto scored all its runs over the first three innings thanks chiefly to two homers by Vernon Wells.
Wells hit a two-run shot in the first and a solo blast in the third, running his home run total for the season to 19.
The Blue Jays had lost their previous three games.
