FRISCO, Texas, Jeff Cunningham scored twice in the second half Sunday, leading FC Dallas to a sun-baked 3-1 victory over Philadelphia.
Playing in 100-degree heat, Dallas (7-2-9) improved its MLS unbeaten streak to eight games.
After the first half ended in a 1-1 tie, Cunningham scored his fifth goal of the season in the 75th minute, heading a perfect pass from Brek Shea into the net from the left side -- Cunningham's 38th career game-winner.
He provided an insurance tally 6 minutes later when David Ferreira found him cutting into the area and fed him a pass that Cunningham one-timed past Union goalkeeper Chris Seitz.
The Union (4-10-3) was forced to play nearly 70 minutes a man down after after Philadelphia goalkeeper Brad Knighton received a red card.
Alejandro Moreno scored the first goal of the game to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute, and Ferreira got the equalizer 13 minutes later.
