HARRISON, N.J., (UPI) -- Fredy Montero netted the only goal of the game in the 85th minute Saturday, giving the Seattle Sounders a 1-0 victory over Red Bull New York.
Montero, a second-half substitute, was on the left side of the New York area when he received the ball, chested it to his knee, then fired a right-footed shot past Red Bulls goalkeeper Bouna Coundoul from close in.
Montero's third of the season gave the win to the Sounders (3-3-3), who handed New York its first home loss of the season.
New York (5-3-0) was paid back for inflicting a home loss on Seattle in the two teams' first meeting this year.
The Red Bulls were shut out for the second straight game.
