SEATTLE, -- Fredy Montero's second goal of the game came in stoppage time Saturday and gave the Seattle Sounders a 2-1 win over Chicago.
The winning play was set up when Nathan Sturgis struck a bending cross to Montero, who evaded the defense at the back post and managed a downward header as time was running out.
Montero's first goal in the 36th minute produced 1-1 tie. On the play, Tyson Wahl sent in a pass from the left sideline and found Montero, who fumbled it at first but kept his composure and kicked home a low shot at the far post.
The Fire (6-7-6) took an early lead when John Thorrington scored on a penalty shot in the 28th minute.
Seattle improved to (9-8-5) improved to 5-0-2 in its past seven MLS games.
