B.C. NDP headquarters is checking complaints from two campaigns about membership signups submitted by candidate Adrian Dix for the current leadership race.

As the midnight deadline approached for membership signups Monday night, Dix's workers arrived at party headquarters with boxes full of signed membership forms, according to former NDP cabinet minister Corky Evans.

"It is my understanding that 5,000 or 6,000 memberships came in without the money attached and without the balance sheet to say who they were and who was submitting them," said Evans.

The membership signups are important because every B.C. NDP member can vote for the leader.

The campaigns of Mike Farnworth and Harry Lali have both complained and said Tuesday party officials have not yet accepted the forms.

Dix's officials say everything is above board. according to campaign campaign manager Gerry Scott.

"We don't feel that any violations have occurred of any substantive nature," said Dix campaign manager Gerry Scott. "There may be some technical issues."

Scott said the Dix team would co-operate fully with a planned review of the membership forms by NDP headquarters.
