I got Photoshop 7 elements for Christmas and I'm a beginner in using photo editing software.I'm in a shirt design contest, and in submitting a design I need to place my design onto a shirt template. How can I place the image onto the shirt template without overlapping? I can't seem to figure out a way to fit the design onto the shirt, and only the shirt.

Use the lasso in the polygon mode to select the areas of the shirt you want to put the pattern. Do not just put the pattern on the "shirt", he pattern should be put on each section of the shirt separately, rotating each pattern to show how the pattern would flow. Use layers to define each section.Make a duplicate layer, before you try doing anything with the original. OK to screw up a duplicate layer, Fatal to screw up an original.Set your Lasso to to polygonalright click on the lasso.move the cursor to poly then releasenow go to the layer marked background copy, right click on the layer boxGo to the image and select the area you want to delete and encircle it wit the lasso, on click at each point, til the lasso lights up.go to the tool-box select Edit---Copy to a new layer. A new layer is automatically made when you copy anything. Use the clone stamp 15th down on the left side tools and fill in the background. Click on the Box on the horizontal tool box marked size. This will make the cloning area larger or smaller.Try this and let me know how it works through the add to your question.

It is hard to say how to do it without seeing that the template looks like.If all you want is to resize it so it fits a particular size in the editor make sure you are working in Full Edit. Make sure the content you want to resize is not on the background layer (if it is double click on the word background and rename it something else). With the layer that has the content selected, click on the Move tool (the arrow with a 4-sided arrow below icon on top of the tool bar), now you will have little squares on the borders of the image, click on one of them and drag it to resize. This will resize the image proportionally, making sure you image does not get deformed (stretched out or squished looking).Another thing you can try is placing the content you want to display in the shirt on a layer above the shirt template and the hold down the ALT key and click inbetween the two layers. That will click the top layer according to the contents of the layer below.I hope one of this solutions will help.
