Problem with iTunes 7.1.1?

I am using iTunes 7.1.1, running on a Sony Vaio with Windows XP. Everything has worked well until recently. I had run a recording program AUDACITY. The next time I attempted to open iTunes I got the message "iTunes can not run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration." I can play music with Windows Media Player, Linewire and with Audacity. I have no frickin' idea what is wrong. I even uninstalled iTunes and downloaded a new version. Same error message. Help!!!!

The same thing happened to me but reinstalling it fixed the problem...First off trying uninstalling it...then rebooting your computer and then installing it again. If that doesnt work...if you have an ipod that uses Itunes try connecting it to the computer and that should open itunes...you might have to do that every time you want to open itunes then.
