SES to Terminate IP-Prime

On Monday, SES AMERICOM said it would cease providing its satellite-based IPTV support service in North America – known as IP Prime - by July 31.
The termination of IP Prime was motivated by the slow adoption of IPTV by small and medium telco video services as well as by the difficult market outlook for this type of service, SES AMERICOM said in a statement.
IP-Prime had contracted IPTV signal delivery agreements with 70 small telecom operators, of which 37 had reached commercial stage. However, SES said the platform was serving a subscriber base of less than 10,000 at the end of November.
IP-Prime has been in service for about two years.
