Store evacuated by noxious fumes

SAN DIEGO, (UPI) -- A Bloomingdale's store in Southern California was evacuated after employees and customers reported their eyes and throats were burning, officials said.

The store in the Fashion Valley mall in San Diego was reopened at about 6 p.m. Friday, two hours after the evacuation, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

A dispatcher for San Diego Fire-Rescue said the 10 people treated by medics had symptoms similar to those caused by exposure to pepper spray, KGTV-TV, San Diego, reported. But no toxins were identified in the store and the cause of the irritation was not determined.

No one suffered serious enough injuries to be hospitalized.
