Teacher allegedly had sex with boy, 12

SAN ANTONIO, A teacher at a Texas elementary school has been charged with taking a 12-year-old former student to a hotel for sex, police said.

Police said Lucinda Rodriguez Caldwell, a few hours before her arrest, led the boy's father on an early morning car chase Saturday with the 12-year-old driving her sport utility vehicle, the San Antonio Express-News reported.

Caldwell, 38, who has resigned from her job at Cable Elementary School in San Antonio, was released on $75,000 bail Tuesday. She is under house arrest and can leave her home only for reasons approved by the court.

In an affidavit, investigators said Caldwell checked into a hotel at 1:15 a.m. A couple of hours later, the boy's father, worried because his son was not home, went outside and saw a black Ford Explorer enter his driveway and then leave quickly.

The father followed the SUV in his van until both were pulled over by police 30 miles away in Hondo. Officers let everyone go with warnings but told the father he should go to San Antonio police if he suspected Caldwell of molesting his son -- which he did later in the day, the newspaper said.
