TECHNOLOGY: News from ViaSat and Vizada, BGAN in Brazil, DigitalGlobe
ViaSat said it is nearly doubling the coverage area for its mobile broadband network with an expansion covering the North Pacific Ocean region --- Vizada, a provider of global satellite communications solutions, said Iridium sales have spiked 70 percent due to a new batch activation capability now available for Iridium subscribers using The Source, Vizada's Web-based account management tool --- Tesacom, Stratos Global and Addvalue joined forces to deploy a 1,200-site BGAN mobile satellite network to support the first round of Brazil's municipal elections earlier this month --- DigitalGlobe signed an agreement with Microsoft to provide Microsoft's Virtual Earth with premium, high-resolution satellite and aerial imagery.
