The teens were walking down a pathway near Huron Avenue North and Byron Avenue at about 2 p.m. when they said a man demanded their belongings and pointed a gun at them.
The man took their knapsacks, two cellphones and a wallet before fleeing in the direction of Island Park Drive, according to police.
He is described as white, in his early 20s with short dark hair and about six feet tall with a muscular, medium to stocky build.
The man was English-speaking and was wearing aviator sunglasses, a red bandana over his face, a black hooded jacket, dark blue jeans and white running shoes, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact the Ottawa police robbery unit.
